Grovenburg United Methodist Church Windows

Early in 2021, the HDHS learned that the former Grovenburg United Methodist Church building was slated for demolition. We immediately took action to determine what could be salvaged from the historic structure. A priority was saving the eight stained glass windows.

Working in tandem with Delhi Charter Township, we were able to secure the professional removal of the windows in July 2021. The windows were assessed for condition, crated, and placed in storage. They have been donated to the Holt-Delhi Historical Society for proper dispersal and as a means of fundraising. All funds raised from the sale of the church windows will go directly back into the Holt community to support local history, including supporting the development of a Kahres Dairy Farm Museum.

We were pleased to partner with Epic Auctions and Estate Sales in February 2024 to hold a fundraising auction of six of the eight Grovenburg Church windows. Special thanks to Bradley Stoecker of Epic Auctions and Estate Sales for handling the sale. All funds raised will go directly back into the community to support local history endeavors.

The HDHS has retained the “Dove” window in its collection for potential future inclusion into a historical museum.
